Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Zicklin School of Business newsletter. I am pleased to open this channel of communication to the internal Zicklin and Baruch community.

We are an active institution with much to celebrate and many works in progress. I hope this newsletter will become a place where we pay tribute to our successes, share important information, and learn more about what we might not otherwise hear or see. As such, I invite your contributions.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome new hires to the Zicklin School. The School continues to draw exceptional talent to its academic and administrative departments. Recent hires include:

Faculty hiring has been very successful, with 12 new faculty members expected to join us for the Fall 2008. This brings the number of new faculty hires since 2002 to a total of 87.

The newsletter is not intended to repeat what is provided in other sources of information. As a reminder, Zicklin faculty meeting information is posted at http://aux.zicklin.baruch.cuny.edu/intra/agenda/, the faculty handbook is available at http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/facultyhandbook/, and our periodic reports to the general faculty are available at http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/gfm/.

Please share your reactions to this newsletter with me and send your ideas for content to Fran Murphy at Frances_Murphy@baruch.cuny.edu. Thank you all for the hard work and commitment that have made this another good year for the Zicklin School.

Best regards,

Faculty Spotlight

The Class of 2002
A walk down the Newman Vertical Campus’s 13th Floor corridor is a visual journey in what makes the Zicklin School of Business unique and special. Images of professors in one-on-one counsel with students adorn the same wall as those of alumni standing proudly in centers and buildings they help build. Larry Zicklin, Prakash Sethi, Gloria Thomas, George and Sandra Wasserman: many of the great men and women of Zicklin are portrayed here, as are the students whose future they help shape. The photos are, in essence, a testimonial to the legacy of commitment, service, and scholarship that serve as the foundation of this great school. The first photo one comes upon is that of a group of faculty who have made incredible and lasting contributions to Zicklin.
